A FEW GOOD TV SHOWS

I’m looking for a few good TV shows that I can rent on DVD to get me through the summer. Below is a list of shows I’ve already seen all the way through, some of them more than once. Some of them more times than I’m comfortable admitting.

So let me know if you have any suggestions! But no Lost. I refuse to get into a show that plans to drag itself out into 2010.

• The Sopranos
• Six Feet Under
• Sex and the City
• Rome
• Curb Your Enthusiasm
• Buffy the Vampire Slayer
• Angel
• Freaks & Geeks
• Nip/Tuck
• The Office
• Arrested Development
• Seinfeld
• Friends

My three favorite shows right now are Heroes, Grey's Anatomy, and Lost. No seriously, watch Lost.

I have two suggestions, the first of which I'm afraid you'll ignore, even though there are several reasons why you shouldn't.

1) Firefly. Reason A: It's Joss. Reason B: It's only 14 episodes. Reason C: There's at least one episode with girl-on-girl business. Reason D: You only think you didn't like "Serenity." You'd like it much more if you knew the background. Reason E: It is awesome. Please try! (Warning: it took me 3 or 4 episodes to fall in love with it.)

2) Deadwood. Reasons A-Z: It's awesome.

This is Kate, by the way. But Ethan would agree with show #1.

I know you own Firefly, but do you own Deadwood? I'll borrow both on Sunday, if you have them. Getting Kelly to watch Firefly might be a challenge, though the lesbo stuff should certainly help the cause...

I recommend Firefly as well, Rex watched it continuously after he broke his back. It's really good, they grow on you.

Sorry, you'll have to rent them... We don't own Deadwood, and Firefly is with Ava in New Jersey. But what I really came here to say is that I forgot maybe the most important one of all! I'm so ashamed. Please, please: watch this show. It's called "Battlestar Galactica." You must start with the miniseries, which is only 2 or 3 hours-- I guarantee you'll be hooked by the end of it. Here's the miniseries on Netflix:

(And don't say "We don't do Netflix..." It'll be the cheapest way for you to watch all of this tv this summer, and they have EVERYTHING!)

I'm with kate on Firefly. So sad when I got to the last ep. Too quick.

Not sure if you like this sort of thing, but I LOVE CSI. that's big love, normal all-caps for the acronym. Not all CSI. Just the Vegas one. It has some sexy chicks -- I mean, crime scene investigators. And good writing. Interesting plots. And not too much scariness, even for me. Although there are a few episodes my imagination could have done without.
